A Few Face Shots

I've been getting more and more into photography lately, so much that friends from church have asked me to take pictures of their families. I've done engagement photos, senior portraits and I'm doing a wedding in December!!! So, we bought a new camera and have been playing around with it for a few days. It's been so fun and exciting to think about the possibilities. Here are some preliminary test shots.

He moves so fast, it's hard to get the shot that I want.
I love my curly headed little boy.
Posing for fun.
Taking a little break while playing on the porch.

Good times

The Catheys' came to visit us for a few days and we loved catching up with them, staying up late watching movies, going swimming, eating together and celebrating my 34th Birthday!

Oli had a swimming class in between all the fun.
He enjoys being in the water, but doesn't enjoy some of the exercises, like floating with the noodle; He's not too happy here.
Eventhough he's really young and very distracted, I'm glad we're taking this class because it's helping me teach him how to swim.

After swim class, Sarah and I had lunch at Momo's Pizza.
Aurelia wasn't intimidated by the size of the slice!
Many of you know that I love lemon on almost everything I eat; so I think Oli gets this from me :)

My 34th Birthday started out with a trip to the park.

After the park, we had breakfast with a play group. Nora, Alan's mom, made a yummy cake to celebrate both of our Birthdays. This photo doesn't quite show how chaotic it was that morning. Picture about 12 moms and 15 kids all under the age of 3. Yeah, it was crazy!

We finished off the night by going to "La Hacienda", a Mexican place. The food tasted authentic and yummy!  We were surprised at how much Oli ate, I guess he also gets that from me!
Aurelia was super tired and sleepy at this point.
After going strong for 15 hours, she called it a night.

It was a fun 34th Birthday, but I'm not thrilled that I'm approaching the mid 30's.  I felt young because I was out past 9:00 p.m., but I felt old because I was exhausted by 10:00 p.m. :)

Future little surfer?

Next week we start a mommy-and-baby swimming class at the Y.  I wanted to see how he would react to being in the water, so I took him to our pool for the first time.  He really enjoyed it so I think we're going to have a fun class and a fun Summer!

Future little surfer dude?

Notice his tan, despite the sunblock.
He was wiped out afterwards;
now I know how to get him to nap for two hours :)

10 Months Old

Oli is 10 months old and is cruising all over. He's also expressing his likes and dislikes. He loves playing on our porch, but when it's time to go inside he throws a tantrum. He loves his baby-bible-class and playing in the church nursery. But again, he gets upset when it's time to leave. He loves multigrain bread, rice, banana, mango, grapes, butternut squash and peas, but hates green beans (he's tried them many times). We love seeing his personality grow!

These are a few things he loves:

being flipped around by Brian;
going on slides;
crawling through tunnels;
taking breaks;
playing with trains; and
hanging out on our porch.

Easter Weekend

We had a busy and fun filled Easter weekend in St. Petersburg, FL. We celebrated my cousin, Delia's 33rd Birthday, my parent's 35th Anniversary and Easter. After church on Sunday we went for a stroll in the Downtown area.
I loved seeing my Aunt Ruby and my cousin, Delia, who were visiting from Canada.  We only get to see each other every few years. (And of course it was also fun to see Jasmin and Lucy who live in FL.)
Oliver met his cousin Jaime (from Canada) for the first time.
It's hard to believe that exactly one year ago, when we were here for Easter, I had a huge pregnant belly.  Time is flying by!

Oli's new hobbies

Oli went to his 9 month checkup last week and he weighed 18 lbs 11 oz.  He didn't gain too much weight from his last appointment because he is so active nowadays.  These are a few of the things he's been up to; his new hobbies :)

We went to an Easter egg hunt recently but Oli was more interested in looking at the lake and learning how to fish.
With the help of Jason & Andrea, he caught his 1st fish.
YEY Oli!!!

He also likes to do laps around our couch and squeeze through the narrowest places...

And he can't stop pushing around his little cart.

It was the best feeling in the world!

Strawberry picking

We had an awesome time strawberry picking with our friends, Valerie, Tori and their children a few days ago!  Since it's the end of the season the owner said we could have as much as we wanted, for free!! So of course we got tons of strawberries, more than a person could ever need. Oh! and Mr. speedy couldn't help himself and before I knew it, he was eating dirty rotten strawberries off the ground, yuk!
Might as well take the picture since he was already doing it!
Kylie was helping him find good strawberries...
Thanks, Kylie!
Yup, this one looks good...
MMMMMM...
It was so pretty!

Letting go ...

Okay, as you may have noticed, this little blue baseball cap has been in MANY pictures. It's my favorite little cap and he's had it since he was about 1 month old.  I noticed it was fitting him a little snug and pretty high up so I checked the size and it was 0-3 months.  Yeah, that's when I realized it was time to retire the little cap and accept that Oli is 9 months old.  This is the last time he wore it :(

He can't believe it himself, he can stand!
